Selah Foundation for Development in coordination with Shelter Cluster in Taiz has inaugurated The Winter Basket Project which is funded by King Salman Center for Relief. This project aims to distribute 700 Winter Baskets to displaced and most vulnerable families in Salah and Saber AlMwadem Districts.

At the inauguration ceremony, the deputy Governor of Taiz, Dr. Ilan Abdul-Haq expressed her thanks to King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian works for the Winter Basket Project, which came on the appropriate time to alleviate the suffering of the displaced and the most vulnerable families. She also praised the roles of King Salman Human Developmental Center in the governorate of Taiz in the health, education and development sectors.

Professor Mutahar Al-Shamiri, coordinator of Shelter Cluster in Taiz, confirmed that this project comes in response to 2019 humanitarian response plan and the recommendations of the winter plan for the mass shelter and non-food items for the displaced, the host community and the most vulnerable families, which came at the beginning of the harshest winter period this year..

Moreover, Mr. Hassan Al-Khulaidi, Director of the Executive Unit for the Displaced in the governorate, stressed that the winter pocket touched the needs of the people of the displaced and the most vulnerable families in the districts of Sabr al-Mawadim and Salah especially since the two districts are considered among the neediest areas.

Furthermore, Professor Abdo Ali, Director General of Social Affairs and Labor in Taiz Governorate calls for targeting the rest of the districts affected by the shelter bags, thanking the center for its relief efforts in the governorate.

Professor Muhammad Abdullah, Executive Director of the Sub-Relief Committee in the governorate, stressed that the need remains urgent, as there are thousands of people who suffer from the coldness of the rest of the governorate’s directorates, noting that the population density in Taiz governorate should be taken into consideration..

In the same context, Mr Yasser Al-Fetini, the project coordinator , explained that this project targeted families according to precise mechanisms and standards in coordination with the shelter cluster in the governorate, the executive unit and the sub-committee for relief, and the most vulnerable and affected families in the two directorates were selected. He thanked the Center for this kind gesture in these difficult circumstances.
