It was launched today Tuesday 08 September 2020 in the city of Taiz, specifically in Al Qaheria district; The emergency response project to combat dengue fever funded by the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) – Yemen Office, and implemented by Ma’akum Developmental Foundation mdf.

The project includes elimination of waste, spraying operations, mosquito nets distribution, and the distribution of fever medicine to health centers (Al-Wahda Health Center and 14 October Health Center) in Al Qaheria district.

At the inauguration, Dr. Ilan Abdul-Haq, sub- governor of Taiz Governorate for Health Affairs, noted the health situation in the governorate in light of the spread of epidemics and fevers and the need for everyone to join hands to combat the causes of these diseases, especially in Al Qaheria district, which comes on the list of districts most affected by the epidemic, and in turn Dr. Ilan thanked the global symposium for Implementation of this important project in these circumstances, and the need to combat the dengue virus that is spreading in the city, calling on all organizations to make more efforts to protect the population from these deadly epidemics.

The Director General of the Cleaning and Improvement Fund affirmed that this project will contribute to remove waste, preserving the environment and removing the causes leading to the spread of the epidemic, thanking the efforts of the symposium and Ma’akum Developmental Foundation mdf for their role in this project and the prior coordination with the local authority and the Cleaning and Improvement Fund, which was very fruitful.
Mr Yasser Al-Futini, Executive Director of the Foundation for Development, mdf, thanked the World Assembly for Islamic Youth, appreciating its relief and development role in Yemen, and thanked the local authority for its presence and cooperation to accomplish this work.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Project Coordinator at the Office of the World Assembly of Muslim Youth in Taiz, Dr. Ilan Abdul Haq, sub- governor of Taiz Governorate for Health Affairs, Mr. Abdullah Jassar, Director General of the Cleaning and Improvement Fund, Mr. Abdo Ali, Director General of the Social Affairs and Labor Office, and Mr. Najeeb Al-Shatheli, Deputy Director General of the Office of Planning and International Cooperation, Mr. Ahmed Ali Gamal, Director General of Al Qaheria directorate, Mr. Abdul Malik Ameen, Secretary General of Al Qaheria directorate, and Dr. Rashad Al-Mikhlafi, Deputy Director General of the Health Office in Al Qaheria District.
